Three local institutions have united to support an international campaign to help female survivors of violence.
Sutton Coldfield Town Hall trustee Rosemary Walton is a member of Soroptimist International Sutton Coldfield, a group which has been running locally since 1945.
The group works to highlight important causes and campaigns around the world and find solutions and support. The worldwide network of women is linked to the United Nations.
The Town Hall offered to support the '16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence' by using orange lighting and displays to highlight the campaign, which started on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
It runs until Human Rights Day on 10 December.
Local art and textile recycling organisation The UP Creative Community CIC, headed by Helen Waite, provided a display in the box office of the Town Hall and encouraged locals to ‘Orange the World’ by turning their windows, gardens and clothing orange for the 16 days.
