The Everyone Active David Weir Leisure Centre in Carshalton (formerly Sutton Arena)is now the home for a brand new fitness programme for very young children. Gym Stars is designed to develop basic gymnastic skills and to build confidence as they progress.This has just go to be a breath of fresh air from being sat in a closed room glued to a screen of some description.
Total Gymnastics Gym Star sessions run each week from Tuesday 2nd July from 1.30 -2.30 pm for children aged 2-4 years old. Sessions start from £4.00 each and pre-booking is essential. Call 020 8641 9480 for more information
For some, if a child starts to show any natural talent, usually around the age of six and seven, they will be selected and have the opportunity to join a local gymnastics club where their talent can be developed with others of equal and more advanced ability.
Beth, herself started in this way, when she was spotted at the age of seven. She was carefully trained by professional coaches, who gradually developed her skills, so that, with a lot of hard work, she eventually rose to become three times World Champion and to represent Great Britain at three consecutive Olympic Games.
