Sutton's Safer Transport Team have issued tips on how you can keep your bike safa and secure and drastically reduce the risk of theft.
Get your bike security marked and registered at Bike Register. This can be clearly seen and is a great deterrent to bike thieves.
Record details of your bike. Keep a record of the frame number (normally found underneath the bike between the pedals or where the back wheel slots in) together with the BikeRegister number, any distinguising features and a photo.
Use locks of gold 'Sold Secure' standard and use two different types of lock with at least one being a hgh quality D-lock. Poor quality locks are usually very easy for thieves to cut through - make it really difficult for them.
