The Dylan Thomas Centre is in line to receive a huge lottery grant.
The DTC based in the old Swansea guildhall has been successful in attracting a £1 million lottery grant.
This is particularly significant in this Dylan Thomas's centenary year.
The Centre was officially opened by ex US president Jimmy Carter - a lifelong Dylan Thomas devotee in 1995.
The monies will be used to finance improvements to the galleries but also to ensure that the Centre's future is assured.
A collection of Dylan Thomas's notebooks and jottings will be displayed this year after negotiating a loan of the items from the University of Buffalo who own them.
