Swansea ended up unsuccessful in the bid for city of Culture 2017.
In spite of the fact that Swansea Bay was hotly tipped as favourite in the race for nomination as City of Culture 2017 ultimately there was disappointment.
Congratulations must be extended to Hull who were named as the host city.
Whilst there was disappointment expressed from all concerned there was also a determination that all the hard work and preparation do not go to waste.
A lot of the planned events for 2017 will go ahead.
Shadow Wales Secretary Owen Smith said that in spite of the disappointment Swansea will go from strength to strength as one of the great cultural centre in Wales and beyond.
