Claims have been made that planning conditions imposed by Swansea City Council made a redevelopment proposal for Parc Tawe unviable.
Hammerson who were nominated as the Council's redevelopment partner have claimed that conditions that were added to planning consent meant that they would not be able to attract the tenants and businesses they need to the Parc Tawe site.
The restrictions included not allowing certain types of retailers on to the Parc.
The council have robustly defended their decision as they said that they will do whatever it takes to protect the city centre shops.
That is all very admirable but we do need to be careful that we don't throw the baby out with the bathwater!
