One of Captain Scott's ill fated South Pole team Edgar Evans is commemorated with a blue plaque.
Thes plaques are erected outside houses where significant people from all walks of life were born or lived.
It has been attached to the wall of Middleton Hall at Rhossili.
Evans was a member of the South Pole explorers who were in 1912 pipped to the goal by the Norwegians.
in a failed attempt to be the first to reach the South Pole they all perished from hunger and the extreme cold.
A sad story but now fitting recognition of where one of those brave men was born
