Plans have been put forward for owners of city centre retail space in Swansea to be incentivised to convert unused accommodation into living space.
The idea will hopefully bring a vitality back to city centre streets that become deathly quiet after the shops shut.
Obviously there are a lot of additional cost involved in such a scheme and hence the grant availability.
Swansea council will apply to a fund that the Welsh government controls for the funds to make the scheme viable.
With the efforts that have gone into the regeneration in Swansea High Street there is proof that bringing commercial buildings back to life with private residents can work.
injecting fresh life into the city centre will be great for a place like Swansea and will work for all concerned.
A great initiative that must be seen through.
