The National Pool will no longer be the elite centre for para athletes. There will also be the contentious issue of withdrawal of funding.
The facilities will infuture be provided by a Performance Centre based in Manchester.
Swansea provided the training facilities for Olympic legend Ellie Simmonds who won four Gold Medals at the 2012 games.
British Para-Swimming issued a statement saying that a review of both centres had taken place and Swansea lost out in favour of Manchester. This is where all preparations for Rio 2016 will now take place.
This is bad news for Swansea and more to the point with the withdrawal of funding what will be the impact on the future running of the facility that has does so much to support sporting development in Swansea and South West Wales.
