Paul Merton revealed that his comedy debut was in Swansea in 1982.
He had decided to play the Edinburgh Fringe Festival that year found he was struggling to get the necessary money together and opted for the fledgling Swansea festival instead.
This master of improvisation never looked back after the lessons he learned in fromt of a Swansea audience.
He is back in Wales on Monday (but not in Swansea unfortunately) at the Wales Millenium Centre for one night.
