Swansea politician Mike Hedges has highlighted the invasive problem that is Japanese Knotweed.
There is now an estimated 62000 tonnes of this weed within the city.
It has been estimated that it will take a concerted effort over 50 years and an expenditure of up to £10 million to eradicate the problem.
The city council have spent £200000 over the last 10 years on tackling the intrusive plant which can cause such misery for home owners.
These days it can cause a problem not just in the garden but also getting into the foundations of property and as a result in extreme cases making a property unsaleable.
