The recent proposals by Swansea City Council to charge over 16's for school bus transport seem to have come to the end of the road.
The intention was to save money from the school transport budget.
All children over 16 would pay for the service.
This was one of the proposals outlined by the council with others being the restriction of free buses to faith schools.
There has been considerable opposition to the idea and the council have now decided to climb down.
Whilst the decision to reverse the intention needs to be raified by a full Council meeting it seems likely that free transport will stay for the time being.
It still does nothing for the budget crisis that Swansea city still has to solve over the coming months.
