Swansea's new rules limiting the number of bin bags that households can put out seem to be working.
There was consternation when the council announced that each house would be limited to three bin bags a fortnight.
Swansea city council have committed to a reduction in non recycled waste by 7000 tonnes!
The early signs are that the initiative is saving 700 tonnes.
This is waste that is now not going into landfill and apart from this environmental benefit the council has to hit it's recycling target by 2016.
If not there will be a series of fines imposed by the Welsh Assembly.
With the impressive progress made so far we should hit the target.
