Swansea's verges and parklands may look a bit less manicured but this is deliberate.
A by product of cost cutting measures by the City Council is the plan to leave areas of the city's parks to grow unhindered.
This is a fantastic way to encourage the growth of the wildflower population.
Whilst they still need to leave large areas of parks cut so that people can enjoy the amenity and verges do need to be checked so that road safety is not compromised there is still a great opportunity to encourage the countryside 'into' the town.
I think that it's a great initiative and if it save money along the way then it's a win win all round.
