This year Swansea hosts a gathering of female glass artists to celebrate two anniveraries. The Women's International Glass Workshop celebrates its 20th year, while the Welsh School of Architectural Glass reaches an incredible 75 years.
Gathering Light, and exhibitionof contemporary stained glass has opened to celebrate the occasion has opened at Swansea's National Waterfront Musuem which will run until January 24th. Of the 20 exhibitors there are many international artists from Englandm France, Austrailia, the USA, Japan and of course Wales.
The display includes work by 5 former students of the Welsh School of Architectural Glass, which is situated right here in Swansea within Swansea Metropolitan University. The school says it is the "only purely architecturally-based glass department in the world," where many of the leading artists have studied.
