Go back 30 years in time at Taunton Flower Show 2012

WHO/WHAT: GREEN-FINGERED folk are being invited to go back to the 1980s at the Taunton Flower Show this Friday and Saturday (August 3 and 4, 2012) thanks to a Somerset garden centre’s 30th anniversary-themed display garden.

WHERE/WHEN: Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre is asking people to go along to the Taunton Flower Show at Vivary Park in Taunton and help celebrate the garden centre’s 30th birthday on Friday, August 3 from 11am until 7pm and Saturday, August 4 from 10am until 6pm.

HOW/WHY: Andrew Pitman, Plant Manager at the award-winning, independent, family-run garden centre at Monkton Heathfield near Taunton, said: “Our 1980s show garden will include bedding plants and recycled tyres made into planters to enhance the vintage vibe.

“The centrepiece of the garden will be a Ford Capri convertible, owned by our Shop Manager, Steve Searle who has been with the business for more than 30 years, from when the site was a tomato nursery before becoming a garden centre. We will also be giving you lots of fun facts and information about items and key events from the 1980s.

“We will be offering visitors free birthday cake and elderflower pressé at our garden during the event, while stocks last.

“I will be at Taunton Flower Show on both days to chat to visitors and answer any questions people may have about our vintage inspired garden.”
