I find myself in the throes of planning a very special celebration this year and have been buried in layers of sourcing things, finding that special place to hold a party and finding a centrepiece cake to really make the occasion.  I have been so impressed with the suppliers, artisans and wonderful event spaces that we have here on our doorstep in Somerset.

I found Kym at a Street Fair where she was inundated with customers!  Always a good sign in my book.  So after chatting with her for a bit, she gave me a card (and a bag of chocolate brownies!), and I said I would look her up when I needed to talk about a cake.

Well that time has come and I’d set aside this start to the year to get ahead on my preparations, so I phoned her and we arranged a visit.  Kym’s kitchen is spotless and she is justly proud of her 5 * food hygiene rating.  She is also fully allergen trained and often makes specialist bakes for those of us that can’t include gluten or other ingredients in our diets.  Kym showed me more pictures of celebration cakes, wedding cakes, birthday cakes and little sugar iced cookies that she makes til my head swam!  After a cup of tea and a chat we had worked out what I needed and how it would look.  Kym’s celebration cakes are beautiful, and so many varied designs, from gorgeous buttercream and flower strewn cakes, to character cakes to sumptuously decorated cakes dripping with style.  She has a real eye for colour and style and offers a huge range of flavours of cakes, to mention white chocolate and raspberry or strawberry and prosecco infused to name but two.

Taking advantage of her fabulous Discount Offer running at the moment here I booked a date and a beautiful three tiered cake, use of a cake stand and Kym will deliver it to the venue on the morning of the celebration.  It was so easy and to top it all off, she sent a tasting box to my home so I could choose the flavours that I liked the most!

I can’t recommend Kym’s Cakes and Bakes enough, she took my muddled ideas and turned them into a beautiful design and if the Tasting Box is anything to go by it will taste incredible.  If you are planning a special cake this year for your party, special birthday or getting married, get yourself an appointment with Kym before she’s all booked for this coming year!
