Tip 1: Keep The Heat In
-Fitting draught-proofing strips to windows & doors is a relatively quick and easy way to do this making savings of £125 a year!
-Electric blankets can help reduce the need of running your heating so maybe an option for smaller households for saving money.
-Thermal lined curtains, blanket & rugs in living areas
-If you have an open chimney that you don’t use very often you can buy a removable draught-proofer saving at least £90 a year!
-Extra Insulation if you have water cylinders, you can purchase up to 80mm with a cylinder jacket costing £16 but this will save you money in the long run.
Tip 2: Having An Efficient Up To Date Boiler!
-Getting an A-rated boiler could reduce bills by 30% and more
-Turning your thermostat down by 1 degree can save you money in the long run your thermostat should be set between 18°C & 21°C.
Tip 3: Take Care Of Your Heating
-Bleed your radiators, if you don’t it causes cold spots which is caused by trapped air.
-Check your heating system pressure; this usually needs to be between 1.0 and 1.5 bar.
-Get regular services on your boiler so that it’s running efficiently, if it isn’t serviced a build up of sludge can happen making the boiler slower and work harder to heat the whole home.
Remember to keep rooms as warm as possible do not block radiators with furniture
