A hands-on session, for children being home educated, to learn about the Iron Age, the Romans, the Anglo Saxons and the Vikings.

Led by an experienced experimental archaeologist, this tour has been specially designed for children that are being home educated and their parents/carers. It will begin in prehistory and delve through nearly 1500 years of culture and craft. Participants will make pots in the Iron Age Roundhouse, mosaics in the Roman Villa and strike a coin aboard the Viking Longship. There will also be a reading of the epic Saxon poem ‘Beowulf’ around the fire in the Saxon Longhall.

Need to Know:

  • Suitable for children aged 7-14 years. Please no children outside of this age group.
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult. No more than 4 children per adult.
