Somerset Rural Life Museum - Craft Workshop: Foil Printing
  • Somerset Rural Life Museum

  • Saturday 16th November 2:00pm until 4:30pm
Join artist-printmaker Jackie Curtis to learn the art of foil printing and create your own nature-based artwork.

In this workshop you will be printing from plates that are created by covering materials, such as leaves/grasses and textured fabrics, with foil tape. Cut out shapes such as birds can also be added. The sticky-back foil holds the materials in place, without the need for glue, so they are instantly ready to print with. You will be printing on A5 sized paper. A selection of dried plant materials and fabrics will be provided but if possible do bring some of your own.

Please bring:

  • Apron and gloves if needed. The inks will be water based but can still be messy.
  • Scissors, tweezers, paper and pencil.
  • Should you wish to print on fabric (rather than paper) you will need to bring your own pieces between A5 and A4 in size and make sure it is ironed. Please note these won’t be water fast.
  • Feel free to bring along your own plant materials. These must be dry and not green at all. Fragile and delicate materials such as skeletal leaves can be used.

The Grain Store Cafe will be open, serving delicious locally-sourced food and drink, should you wish to have lunch at the museum before the workshop begins at 2.00 pm.
