Congratulations to the dedicated team at Apley Farm Shop, located between Bridgnorth and Telford - they've just been recognised with a major award from the National Farmers’ Retail and Markets Association (FARMA).
FARMA awarded Apley Farm Shop at Stockton, near Norton its "Rising Star" award during a presentation ceremony with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall held in Harrogate.
“This is a remarkable achievement and we are absolutely delighted,” said Apley Farm Shop owner Lord Gavin Hamilton, who founded Apley Farm Shop almost two years ago.
“The day-to-day running of the shop is very much a team effort and I congratulate our staff for their hard work and dedication to the business and their constant attention to detail. “We are still a relatively new business and so it is extremely satisfying to win such a prestigious award, and I am delighted that Ludlow Food Centre has been recognised as well. It shows that Shropshire is leading the way in retailing the best local food.
“We pride ourselves on supplying top quality, locally sourced food at reasonable prices and it is encouraging to know, given the recent findings related to certain mass-produced meat items, that more and more people are supporting their local butchers. Our in-house butchery at Apley is always busy and customers are very pleased with the excellent meat it supplies.”
Open 7 days a week with plentiful free parking, Apley Farm Shop benefits from an adjacent licensed café / restaurant (The Creamery) and Piggs Playbarn (Childrens Softplay) for small visitors, plus the free Skylark Nature Trail.
An ongoing programme of events, includes countryside talks on the second Tuesday of each month, a bridge and Scrabble club every Wednesday morning – and on Saturday, 4th May there will be a unique medieval jousting fair.
