Ironbridge Gorge Museum joins in Museums at Night with ‘No Strings Attached’- Friday 18 May
Enginuity, one of the ten Ironbridge Gorge Museums near Telford, Shropshire has joined the Museums at Night campaign by opening its doors free of charge on the evening of Friday, 18 May, 5pm-8pm. The special event called ‘No Strings Attached’ allows visitors to engage with the Design and Technology Centre’s giant interactive games and then gain inspiration from CORE, the new generative digital art exhibition before joining in Sporty Shadow Puppet workshops. The Museum’s Science Sport Life Exhibitions will also be open for all to see.
Museums at Night is the annual after-hours celebration of arts, culture and heritage when hundreds of museums, galleries, libraries, archives and heritage sites open their doors for special evening events. It is coordinated by Culture24, and takes place over the weekend of Friday 18 – Sunday 20 May, www.museumsatnight.org.uk.
CORE, by Kurt Hentschlager is a massive 32m long generative digital art exhibition that features five screens populated by humanoid bodies swimming in a weightless environment and is part of the London 2012 Festival. Families are invited to experience this amazing exhibition and then, having been inspired by what they have seen, create their own ‘animation’ by making Sporty Shadow Puppets. They can also experiment with the Enginuity exhibits, generate electricity, compete against a robot and even x-ray everyday objects.
Traci Dix Williams, Director of Operations said; “We are thrilled to be part of Museums at Night and would like to invite families to join us for this special evening to experience CORE and all that Enginuity has to offer free of charge. There will be squash and biscuits and we hope everyone enjoys the Museum at Night, with No Strings Attached.”
