Vince Dovey, Managing Director of Shropshire ITC, the Shrewsbury based IT and Telecoms specialist, is gearing up for a 100km challenge in September this year.
Taking on the Thames Path Challenge, a gruelling trek from Putney Bridge in London to Henley, Vince has set himself the target of completing the 2 ½ marathons in less than 14 hours and will running, jogging, walking and staggering along the route to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Research, a charity that is close to his heart.
“I had been looking a way to raise money for Pancreatic Research and when I found out about the Thames Path Challenge it just seemed like a good idea to see if it was something that I could complete” said Vince.
“The course takes you along the route of the Thames and at 62.5 miles it will be a challenge far in excess of anything that I have taken on before. However knowing that every step is going to raise money for such an amazing charity that works tirelessly to find a cure for such a terrible and indiscriminate illness will hopefully drive me on”
“The Thames Path Challenge is an amazing event and I know that I will gain support from the hundreds of other competitors along the route. However I also know that I will have to do an awful lot of training to ensure that I can complete and to that end I am very lucky in receiving the support and guidance of Chris Aston from Astons Kickboxing Academy who is guiding me through a gruelling training programme”
“It is not always easy to juggle family life and running a busy IT company so to add in the extra training that is required is not easy but when it is for such an important charity then you just have to find the time”
