Representatives from 100 Shropshire and Staffordshire businesses got a behind the scenes look at a global manufacturing organisation at an event organised by a Shropshire law firm and the Country Landowners Association.
FBC Manby Bowdler solicitors and the CLA hosted the event at the world headquarters of JCB in Rocester, Staffordshire, which was attended by more than 190 people who work predominantly in the agricultural sector.
The day involved presentations from JCB’s General Manager - Agriculture John Smith and JCB Finance’s Head of Vendor Nigel Greenaway who presented on the history of JCB and the support they can offer to farmers and estate owners.
Sarah Baugh, a Partner in FBC Manby Bowdler’s Agricultural and Rural Services Team, then spoke about the specialist legal and business advice the Shropshire firm is able provide across a range of rural issues including property, partnerships, wealth management and family matters.
Following the presentations, delegates had a tour of the JCB factory that included the assembly line of the world famous Backhoe Loader machine.
JCB began life building agricultural tipping trailers in 1945 and has grown to become one of the world's top three manufacturers of construction equipment. It is still a family owned business.
Sarah Baugh, who is the current President of the Staffordshire committee of the CLA, said: “This event gave JCB, the CLA and FBC Manby Bowdler the opportunity to detail how they can support businesses in the agricultural sector to grow and thrive.
“The location at JCB was inspiring as, in a relatively short time, JCB has grown to be one of the world leaders in its field. It was very well attended and delegates appreciated the chance to learn more about how to develop their own organisation and took lessons away from the JCB story.”
