Now that spring is just a few weeks away, we have some top tips on preparing your house for potential viewers:

1.     De-Clutter

2.     Clean Well

Have a good clean, paying attention to small details e.g. washing windows, removing dust from blinds, clean appliances etc.

3.     Carry out a thorough inspection

Inspect floors and walls for damp, repair plumbing issues, check broken seals on windows and check for signs of insects or pests.  Fix any issues you find.

4.     Make your home smell nice

Add fresh flowers to your home or make some freshly baked bread before viewers arrive – this will create a homely smell and will rid of any odours.

5.     Add a lick of paint

Whilst you may love your vibrant walls, there’s a good chance potential buyers won’t. It’s a good idea to present a blank canvas to show people how they can inject their own personality and ideas into the property. Neutral colours are always best.

6.     Complete outstanding projects

If you started a home improvement job but never finished it – now’s the time!!!

7.     Clean flooring

Treat your carpets to a shampoo to remove any stains. Hardwood floors should be thoroughly swept and mopped to make them shine.

8.     Create a warm welcome

Is your front door in good state of repair? As the first thing potential buyers see when they visit your home, why not make it inviting.  Paint the door if needed, replace any damage, keep decoration to a minimal and de-clutter the entrance area.

9.     Staging

Maximise the feeling of space and light by positioning furniture correctly and making your rooms flow more freely.
