Families and cycling enthusiasts are invited to come along to this free event on Sunday, 19th June from 12pm to 4pm where there will be live music along with food and drink.
Children will be able to enjoy some great cycling activities including free balance bike sessions for 3-6 year olds and rides for 3-11 year olds on a custom built triple - that's a bicycle made for three! Telford & Wrekin Council will be running a fun road safety quiz and visitors will be able to tour the YHA and the new cycling facilities. With around 50 miles of off-road cycling routes surrounding the hostel the location is perfect for family friendly cycling.
During the day there will be a family cycle ride from Coalport to Telford Town Park and back. The ride, led by Ironbridge Clarion, will leave YHA Coalport at 10am. Don’t worry if you don’t have a bike, the Telford Cycle Centre are offering 50% off bike hire for anyone wanting to take part in the return ride to Coalport at 12 noon as well as a free ‘Dr Bike’ health check for those joining the ride.
During the afternoon there will be a BBQ, beer tent and ice creams as well as delicious food and drink served in the YHA’s Severnside Café & Bar. Anyone feeling energetic can have a go on the ‘Smoothie Bike’ and use their own pedal-power to make a healthy smoothie!
The new facilities at YHA Coalport have been made possible thanks to a generous grant from Telford & Wrekin Council as part of Defra’s Rural Development for England Growth Programme
The Wheely Fun Day takes place from 12pm to 4pm at YHA Coalport and is free for everyone, there’s no need to book you can just turn up on the day.
