The Artists Cinema and Local Archive Film
Certs tbc
Dirs: Aurelien Froment, Deimantas Narkevicius, Rosalind Nashashibi, Amar Kanwar, Keren Cytter, Catherine Sullivan, Farhad Sharmini, Roger Butwell
As part of The Roses Theatre open day we are offering a very different cinema experience in the form of experimental artist’s films and local archive film clips in Movie Bus/Morecambe Room/Bar (tbc), which will play throughout the day.
We will be showing a fascinating program of experimental shorts by seven leading independent visual artists, commission by the Independent Cinema Office and Lux. The films, which had their world premiere at Tate Modern earlier this year, include a love story told by a typewriter, a snowbound Lithuanian pop video and a mesmerizingly beautiful study of the jellyfish. Subversive and playful, these inventive films provide a ravishing but witty reflection on cinema's capacity to seduce. Full details of each film can be downloaded from our website.
Also playing will be a number of local archive film clips and home movies.
