Chipping Norton Neighbourhood Management Update - December

Anti Social Behaviour
The Bonfire night and Halloween period went well this year with no reported incidents to police and we hope that Christmas and New Year will be the same.

Speeding
On Monday 22 November a SID (Speed Indicator Device) was conducted on the Over Norton Road, Chipping Norton and within an hour 22 vehicles passed through all breaking the 30mph speed limit; some over 35mph and a couple registered at over 50mph.

Parking
Parking remains the responsibility of West Oxfordshire District Council so if you have any complaints or concerns please contact them on 01993 861060 or visit their website: www.westoxon.gov.uk.

Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG)
The Neighbourhood Action Group met at The Fox Hotel on 3 November and one of the topics discussed was to consider having a NAG area champion who would liaise with a member of the Neighbourhood Team to discuss and action any local concerns. This will be discussed further at the next NAG meeting which will be held at Chipping Norton Police Station on Wednesday 8 December at 6.30pm. New members are always welcome.

Good News
The neighbourhood team at Chipping Norton is pleased to announce that over a three month period spanning between July to September there was a 38% drop in all crime in the Chipping Norton area and a drop of 51% in anti social behaviour, which we believe is fantastic news and we hope this decrease will continue.

Other News
There has been a rise in burglaries where the majority were due to windows and doors being unlocked and where ladders have been left outside the property making it easy access for the burglar. We can not stress enough the importance of ensuring you keep doors and windows secure at all times even when inside the property and please lock ladders away.

With the dark nights starting as early as 4pmcan I please ask property owners to make sure their house number/name is clear to read for emergency services. Police are often delayed in attending incidents due to difficulty in finding locations because the house numbers and names are not visible from the roadside. Please help us to help you a lot quicker!!

The neighbourhood team would like to apologise for not being able to attend its pre- arranged “Have Your Say” meeting in Charlbury on Saturday 27 November. This was due to officers and PCSOs being committed with a road traffic accident on the A44.

And finally the police, PCSOs and staff from Chipping Norton Police Station would like to wish you all a merry Christmas and a safe New Year.
