What's happening to the weather?

Is it just me or is this happening for real. About 10 years a go I distinctly remember going on holiday to Spain over the Easter period, 3 years in a row. Each time it rained heavily nearly all week, and to make matters worse, the UK was having a heatwave at the same time!!!
Needless to say, after 3 attempts we stopped the Easter sun idea and opted to stay at home. Each year since then, well at least my rather shaky memory seems to think it has been each year since then, there has either been a heatwave or at least a significantly memorable sunny period in that Easter, early spring time frame.
In contrast, I'm not sure I can recollect a particularly good summer during that time frame. Sure, we have had some ok summers and notably a bit of a drought a year or so ago (although that was just a lack of rain rather than lots of sun :o(
So, my questions are:
1. Are our Springs getting a little better at the expense of our traditional summer/holiday period?
2. Does anyone have an opinion and /or experience to match?
3. Also, has anyone else been tempted by the nice Spring into booking a staycation here in the UK and unfortunately been disappointed with the weather as a result?
