The Archibald Knox Society is a charity that promotes the legacy of Archibald Knox both nationally and internationally.
Archibald Knox (1864-1933) was born on the Isle of Man of Scottish parenthood. His designs are synonymous with British Art Nouveau and he is regarded as being a prominent influence in the Arts and Crafts Movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
His Celtic designs and calligraphy are world famous and iconic in the Isle of Man. Today
both his work for Liberty & Co and watercolours are highly sought after.
THE WORK THEY DO:
Academic Journals - An annual publication relating to Knox and his worldwide contemporaries. Two journals have been published, Vol. 3 will be ready by Christmas 2010 by the charity. Now on sale at the Manx Museum Book Shop or online from our web page/website.
Newsletters - Up to date information on the work of the society and events and auctions from around the world. Free to Society Members.
Lectures on the Knox legacy - Available to charities and groups. Many lectures have been given in the Isle of Man as well as Glasgow, London and York.
Art Prizes - Archibald Knox Art and Design prizes for schools and colleges as well as The Norman Sayle Prize for Art at the Isle of Man College.
Website - The Society host and update the Archibald Knox website on a regular basis.
