Members of the public are being warned against innocently buying stolen goods after a police raid on a house in Douglas.
A man and a woman have been arrested for multiple theft offences. Police found more than 500 items of stolen property, including new boxed toys, clothing and household items. Police believe the couple were stealing from local shops and then selling the goods online, mainly through facebook and local buy and sell sites.
A police spokesman said: 'One of the most high value items that we believe to have been stolen was a number of Lego Millennium Falcons from the new movie, valued at £130 and sold for around £70. It is believed that these toys were sold on the internet to local people along with other high valued Lego items and many other children’s toys at a low price compared to those sold in the shops.
'Please be careful what you buy on the internet. If something seems too good to be true then it usually is and you may be buying stolen property.'
