Interesting article on the BBC news about a successful buy local intiative in Nottingham. The local hospitals are now buying their food from a cooperative of local food producers rather than from further afield. The net result is a big saving on the catering budget, more job security for local food suppliers, vast reduction in the carbon foot print in terms of air miles and I'm sure tastier meals!
