Working with the guiding principles of the Government Strategy for Children and Young People: ‘Be Healthy, Stay Safe, Enjoy Life and Achieve, Prosper and Make a Positive Contribution’ – The Children's Centre on the Isle of Man want to get as many children and young people as possible involved as possible in Children’s Week!
With the support of the Department of Education and Children and The Children’s Centre, it is hoped that the whole community will support Children’s Week by organising their own events and activities. As it’s the first of its kind, there are no barriers to what we can do!
The Isle of Man Constabulary is delighted to support Children’s Week, which actively celebrates our children on the Isle of Man. Inspector Kevin Willson says “Any opportunity to recognise the positive contribution young people make to our community is one that should not be missed”. Paragon Recruitment say “This is a fantastic initiative which encourages the whole community of the Isle of Man – organisations, businesses, schools, clubs, sports teams and individuals - to celebrate children and the future of our community, and would encourage everyone to get involved and support it, in any way you can”.
Last week Children’s Week was launched with a competition to design a logo, open to all those 18 and under, and symbolising “celebrating children”. The winning design will be used in all promotional material for Children’s Week this year and will be carried forward for use in future years. The overall winner will get an incredible prize courtesy of The Children’s Centre: an adventure day for the winner plus 5 friends; with runner-up prizes donated by the Lexicon Bookshop.
The Children’s Week coordinator, Chrissy Cannell, has also set up a facebook page as somewhere people can hear about ideas, and get involved.
