A beacon, one of more than 1,000 around the world, will be lit on the Green at St John's next Thursday, 21st April 2016, as part of celebrations marking Her Majesty the Queen's 90th birthday.
Mr Allen Corlett, Captain of the Parish of German, will also read a message of congratulations on behalf of HRH The Prince of Wales.
Members of the community are invited to attend and take part in the tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth who as Lord of Mann is our Head of State.
Beacons will be lit on mountaintops, on beaches, in farmyards and on church towers to unite people across the Commonwealth in their appreciation of HM The Queen’s lifetime of service.
As well as the beacon at St John’s, the Isle of Man Civil Defence Unit is also planning to shine a light from the summit of Snaefell. This will coincide with special beacons being lit at the top of the four highest peaks in the UK – Ben Nevis (Scotland), Mount Snowdon (Wales), Scafell Pike (England) and Slieve Donard (Northern Ireland).
