Mother’s Day is next Sunday and there are plenty of treats to line up for Mum on the Isle of Man to show her that you love her and appreciate all she does.

The tradition of Mother’s Day is celebrated throughout the world (albeit at differing dates on the calendar) and has it’s roots long established in the history books.

Mothering  Sunday has been a UK tradition since the 17th century when the working classes where allowed home at the end of the Lent period. The family would gather for a celebration with special foods and flowers on the fourth Sunday .

What about booking in for a Mother’s Day lunch? There is a super Mother’s Day Carvery Lunch at the Masonic Hall provided by well known and respected local chef Rob Creasey .  The Station at Port St Mary is putting on a special menu with plenty of delicious home cooked dishes to tempt Mum.  There is also family favourite restaurant The Creg Ny Baa which would make a good choice.  My advice is book NOW as the best places are going to be full pretty quickly.

For flower bouquets to show Mum you care call Elaine’s Flower’s who come highly recommended in testimonials on thebestof.  Post-a-Rose also offer an online order option – but get your skates on or you will be too late to order in time.

If you are looking for a gift for Mum why not try Rural Arts and Crafts in Castletown.  They have a range of gorgeous scarves and jewellery  at prices that won’t break the bank and Julia will gift wrap everything for you.  If you are in Castletown you could also pop into Memory Lane Sweet shop and pick up some lovely chocs.
