Googles definition of Xylitol:- No thank you!!

"A sweet-tasting crystalline alcohol derived from xylose, present in some plant tissues and used as an artificial sweetener in foods".

 

There are no plans to introduce a new tooth decay prevention substance to the Island's primary schools.

Xylitol is a sugar alcohol which is reported as being beneficial to dental health when taken after meals as it can prevent the onset of cavities.

Onchan MHK Zac Hall put the question to the Health and Social Care Minister in Tynwald on Wednesday.

Howard Quayle says the outcome of a recent review into the product didn't leave his department convinced.
