This Charity Challenge is the first of its kind on the Island and the premise couldn’t be simpler. Each organisation taking part is given £50 ‘seed money’ and over a twelve week period, must grow this money (in any way that is legal and ethical) and return it to the charity.
Michelle O’Malley, acting fundraising manager for the charity, says ‘This challenge provides a great opportunity for local organisations, it’s a test of your organisation's ingenuity, creativity, team work and sense of fun. We won’t tell people what to do with their seed money; they could use it to buy cake ingredients and hold cake sales, have t shirts printed for a record attempt, it’s entirely up to them, and the possibilities are endless’.
Paragon Recruitment, who have supported The Children’s Centre in the past by sponsoring their Adventure Team Challenge and Family Fun Day amongst other initiatives, are very kindly sponsoring the ‘seed money’ for each of the teams. Debbie Harris, Director of Paragon, said ‘Paragon are absolutely delighted to be able to support the ‘Fifty Quid, Think Big Challenge’, not least due to the worthy and essential cause, but also in such a fantastic and intriguing initiative. We can’t wait to see the ideas generated and put into practice, and which organisation takes the champion title!’
The Children’s Centre fundraising team will be there to support teams for the duration of the challenge, providing a wealth of resources and handy tips and advice. Once the challenge has come to an end the team which raises the most money will be crowned the ‘Fifty Quid, Think Big Challenge’ Champion and with more prizes being available for most creative ideas amongst other things.
