A schoolboy who lost a leg following a road accident has raised hundreds of pounds for Nepal when he completed an amazing Douglas seafront challenge.

Walking with the aid of a frame, Mark Lalor-Smith, 12, set off from Derby Castle and reached as far as the War Memorial.

He was supported by parents Sara and Julian and fellow pupils and staff from Foxdale School.

Foxdale School administrator Julie Snape said: ‘It was a tremendous effort. At the moment, donations are up to £1,800 but money is still coming in.’
Mark was struck by a car in 2013, while on a family holiday in Turkey. He was transferred by air ambulance to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, where his right leg was amputated above the knee during a 20-hour operation.
