I went to see a friend's new house recently - when I say new, I mean she's made a complete refurbishment of her place in London, and this was the first opportunity I'd had to take a peek round.
And what a house!
Exquisitely decorated, the refurbishment has been done brilliantly with new design and additions marrying perfectly with the original features.
I was extremely surprised to find out, given the location, that the interior designer they had used was in fact based in Tunbridge Wells - small world syndrome strikes again.
Pia Mckerron is originally from South Africa but is now working out of Tunbridge Wells, designing and outfitting both homes and business, with an impressive international and 18 year portfolio behind her.
One of the things that struck me about the house was how effortless it appeared to be (which I'm sure was deceptive and no reflection on the process behind such design!) - it simply looked like it had always been as gorgeous as this.
So often in our modern interior-obsessed world - evident by the number of related programmes on television - a home ends up looking over-designed - Pia's work just looks like it was always meant to be.
