I'm lucky enough to live near a fantastically well-stocked farm shop at Downingbury Farm. As a fruit farm they obviously cater very well in that department and are very popular for picking a range of in-season fruits. The farm shop is open all year round though and remains popular even out of season due to the wide range of local and British produce it offers.
We recently lost our local butchers however, and I'm amazed and pleased that our local greengrocers is still open - and that's not an insult to their produce as they're very good, just that it's in an out-of-the-way location and not in the centre of the village like most of the other businesses.
So here we have a list of local farm shops in and around Tunbridge Wells, some specialist, some general, all providing excellent local food and drink produce. Buy local and you're more likely to get fresher goods, you'll be supporting the local economy and businesses, and exploring foods not consumed by just anyone (although they should be!).
There's something very satisfying about cooking using produce you know has been grown, bred or caught locally, and your taste buds will thank you for it.
