Acorns Children’s Hospice offers care and support to children from the age of 0-18 with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
The hospice is based in Walsall, where they care and support children and young adults from across the Black Country, Staffordshire and Shropshire.
The hospice is designed to be a home-from-home environment where each child receives a tailor-made package of individual care which takes into account their medical, dietary, spiritual and holistic needs.
The hospice is a bungalow style building so it is accessible to every child, with ten bedrooms which are suitable for the varying needs of the children we care for and they are encouraged to decorate their bedroom as they would like to make it feel like home.
There are a range of facilities to help with the children’s specialist needs including a hydrotherapy pool, multisensory room and complementary therapy suite.
There are also play and activity areas to make the children's time here as fun as possible and Acorns arrange activities, trips and days out for thechildren and their siblings to make the most of day and create special memories for their families.
At Acorns they not only care for the child, they also provide support to the whole family to help them cope at every stage of their child's life and beyond into bereavement.
Fundraising is vital for Acorns to ensure they can continue to provide the much-needed specialist care services to children and families across the heart of England. Acorns rely on fundraising and donations for the majority of the income required to run their services and are always keen to engage with local businesses, supporters and volunteers.
