Hi Shannon and all team at Calderfields
I would just like to say a huge thanks to you all at Calderfields for making my surprise party as part of the night.....I was truly shocked at how John and others had arranged it and kept it a secret .
Thanks to the club for our complimentary bottles of wine ..it was a lovely gesture .
Everyone had such a fantastic time and many laughs

First of all we looked at many venues for our wedding which was on the 07/09/19 calderfields was our first we looked at out of about 6 but nothing had what calderfields had in views for photos and price
.
From the moment we picked the venue for our special day and night it was the right decision we had the ceremony and reception at the venue.
First we can't say enought about the events manager SHANNON she was golden from start to finish there was nothing that she would not do for us we had no stress at all which she was envolved in she is a credit to calderfields.

The venue itself is a very friendly place and plenty of parking and space in bar and the events rooms.
.
The meals are great here no matter if you are at an event, special occasion or just going to the restaurant for a quite meal and drink (compliments to the chef) i would reccomend this place and the staff are always smiling and always there to help oh ye the breakfast is a must
.
we stopped in there log cabins and i can honestly say that they are as good as some well known hotels they are clean have plenty of room and have all the facilites you require for a good nights stay and they are a reasonable price there are 21 rooms and they all look over the golf course.

The bar prices are not to bad either and the bar staff are very friendly and helpful.

Over all i would recommend you have a look a this venue for your wedding , special occassion or you have an event you would be surprised of what calderfields do offer

Firstly, the staff at Calderfields are personable, attentive and eager to please. They are the main reason we return twice a year for a golf play&stay break (3 of us in our group).
We stay in the handily placed cabins, right off the 18th fairway, which is ideal when you finish.
The food is excellent and plenty of it. 3 courses each night, full breakfast and we've never had a complaint and several visits.
The course is very well maintained and a real challenge! Any handicap will be put to the test here.
The rooms are tidy and clean, although getting to the point of needing a lick of paint. Plus the lighting isn't exactly bright, but I never find it a problem.
We'll be back again and again, great golf, great people, super food and a comfy bed.

Roast was not the best. Pork was dry & vegetables overcooked. Didn't try a desert.
Very quiet staff & customer wise.
No atmosphere.
Cutlery not clean.
Had considered going for a Sunday carvery but won't bother after this visit.

booked sunday carvery for 14 well in advance requested to be seated in conservatory room as had eaten in there before told if we booked to eat at 4 pm we could eat in there ( two hour window ) this room is semi private and ideal for party of 14 arrived at 2.30 for pre lunch drinks front of house said they had no knowlodge of our request and a party had just sat so room would not be available to 4.30 but show us alternative table available for 4pm nice day so had a drink in garden went back in to eat at 4 but people still seated told we would now be seated in another area in about 10 mins if you go back into garden i will call you when ready finally sat at 4.20 the carvery and desserts where good carvery chef very good and freindly the rest of the staff where surly kids with no customer service skills had to ask several times for both drink and dessert service which seemed to upset them as they where having a jolly good time chatting and joking with their mates (other severs) so if you dont mind being messed about whilst not being served by spoilt snowflakes this is the place for you does the good food compensate i think not

From the moment we were welcomed at reception by their professional staff to the second we left we couldn’t fault the calderfields experience. We were greeted and guided to our room and told where we could find their facilities. The rooms were clean and comfortable and more than big enough for two lads on a golf break. We headed to the bar for a few beers and game of pool and requested a specific match on the tv and the barman was happy to help. The next morning we awoke to a wonderful cooked breakfast along with fresh juices and coffee and then made our way to the course. Having never played the course before we were a little apprehensive of directions, ball lies, distances and obstacles but were pleasantly surprised with how user friendly the course was. We had an enjoyable yet challenging round of golf and looked forward to the next day. Overall we cannot fault the staff, service or experience and would gladly return and recommend this lovely hotel and golf club to any amateur (like ourselves) or even semi/pro golfer.

Having been here some 4 years ago I was interested to see if standards had been maintained. Pleased to report the "log cabin" effect two bed units are still fresh with comfy beds, flat screen tv, ensuite shower/toilet and tea/coffee facility. Good location, next to 18th fairway. Golf course still tight and challenging. The greens were lightning fast for our visit. Food very good, ample choice on the evening meal menu. Breakfast excellent, ample toast, cereals, tea, coffee etc. plus waiter service cooked food. Special thanks to breakfast waiter who was always attentive, pleasant mannered and a real nice touch were his white gloves. Bar facilities very good with cheery helpful staff. Prices were not cheap but probably "par for the course". Also a games/tv room attached to the bar area provided a focal point in the evenings. Probably the weekend highlight was the Sunday carvery. As we a had a late t-time on sunday we asked for the carvery serving time to be extended to 5.30pm. This was agreed although I had some concern that as the carvery opened at 12.00 any food would be going stale. Was delighted to find the chef ready, waiting and serving a good selection of hot meats with fresh Yorkshires, pigs in blankets and as great a selection of fresh cooked veg as I have seen. Almost worth the trip for this alone!. Overall a great value weekend with 3 rounds of golf, two nights accommodation with breakfast, evening meal and sunday carvery for less than £150. Highly recommended. My only word of caution relates to the Saturday wedding party, who seemed to have a great time. Music was quite loud and audible in the cabins. Went off at 11.30pm. My concern was for the protection of the golf course where I counted 14 children in a bunker by the 18th green and another lady guest walking across the 18th green in high heels. No staff were seen overseeing this activity so maybe a point to raise with the management

Enjoyed a nice carvery dinner with the wife good choice of meats vast array of vegetables staff were attentive really good value for money it was a hot day and one of the paddle fans were out of action which made it uncomfortable in the heat. Apart from that minor issue it was cracking 👏👏

Really nice carvery, lots of choice and everything piping hot. All staff were lovely and couldn't be more attentive, all apart from one- Rosie who walked around the whole time we were there delegating the most simple of jobs to other members of staff. She stood next to our party with the card reader, and waited until another member of staff walked past so she could pass the card reader to the younger waitress (Holly) and asked her to settle out payment... Just do it yourself instead of walking around with a face like thunder throwing your weight around. Would return again because the food was of high standard.

First time visiting & was very enjoyable. Probably best carvery I've ever been to with just one disappointment. Very generous portion of beautifully cooked beef & turkey (also pork available). Never seen so many vegetables available... carrots, peas, mashed swede, broccoli, green beans, roast parsnips, savoy cabbage & cauliflower cheese. Also stuffing balls, chipolata sausages & crackling! All delicious. My personal taste but didn't like the gravy at all, tasted a bit like oxo. However, great service, friendly staff and very reasonable price ensured a pleasurable visit. Will be back soon!

2nd year running we have played our golf day here. Many thanks to Dan for once again helping the day run smooth and also regards to the lovely owners Linda and Alan for their hospitality. This is a seriously first class venue, golf course in great nick and greens absolutely first class - best in the region by miles !!!!!! Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, and the meal we had was first class - so many many thanks to you all for making the day for us memorable and enjoyable.

Took my Golf Society for a game here last week. The day was helped by some excellent weather but also by the great welcome we received from the venue after making all the arrangements through Jamie Cundy the golf pro. The bacon roll and coffee with a round of golf deal was excellent value. The Golf shop is well stocked with helpful staff and the 10% off vouchers we were given as a society on arrival was a nice surprise. The course itself has improved a lot since I last played. Fairly flat and an easy walk it has some tight tee shots and a nice variation of holes. Maintenance appeared to be good and the greens were flat and true and in good condition. Would definitely recommend for a good value society day. **This review is based on the golf, not on the hotel as we didn't stay overnight**

Last minute booking here. We stayed in a cabin which looked lovely on approach , when we entered the cabin it needed a little TLC . . Not a nice smell on entering ,opened the windows ,the latches on one window we’re broken .

We pushed the twin beds together they obviously don’t move the beds to clean as the dirt on the skirting board wasn’t nice .

Carpet badly worn and looked dirty.

The plug in the sink in the bathroom didn’t fit properly couldn’t have a proper wash .

We went for food and the staff were so helpful and pleasant . The black leather sofas in the drinking area were ripped and looked like they needed to go to the dump.

These lovely cabins could be so lovely and I wouldn’t mind paying more if they put more attention to detail

Would I stay here again . No

We stayed here for 2 nights to attend a wedding-the reception of which was at Calderfields. The cabins are of a decent size and overlook the golf course and a lake with a fountain in the distance-the highlight of the stay was the view from the cabin early in the morning and watching the early golfers go out. The cabins have tea/coffee making facilities, a decent sized tv and bathroom with a walk in shower. We had booked for an evening meal but there was no-one else there-Calderfields it appeared to us dealt with large group bookings-weddings etc, but not individuals, we had to wait 30 minutes just for a menu and we were in the process of walking out. The food here is not up to standard-the chips were soggy and the menu does not have enough choice-that said the meal at the wedding reception was better-the breakfast also was not good-there is no choice and it it is either a full english or nothing-the cold buffet was also poor. We would stay again for the experience but not the food. The course itself is looked after very well and for a golfing experience this would be ideal.

The down side, Photos makes it look better then it was, 5 min to sweep up out side, flower pot old and looking tired, only decaff coffee in room, blind was broken piece missing so people could see in

On the up side, the food was spot on

We had our wedding at Calderfields and aside from the staff being so friendly and welcoming the rooms were made to look bright and cheerful. We had around 150 guests on the evening and they can open up extra rooms to accommodate more if needed.

Booked through golf breaks for a Sunday night 2 rounds of golf dinner bed breakfast. Arrived early nice welcome lodge was available. Booked to play 18 holes at 14.36 to be told have to be in dining room at latest for 17.30 as carvery packs up at 18.00. Dissapointed but decided to play 9holes. A rush but made it for 17.00 for a pre dinner drink. Food was lovely as were the staff but did feel as we were the only ones eating that we were holding things up. Took our wine outside. We were then told bar cashed up (19.15) and the club was closing. So that was it bed at 19
30. The whole site to ourselves but nothing to do. Not the night we had hoped for. Loved the golf and food but would warn others do not book a golf break there on a Sunday. We felt like norman no mates.

Calderfields hosted our network evening last night and all of the staff went out of their way to ensure the night was a success. The room (which has recently been refurbished and looks fantastic) was all set up ready for us, staff were available to assist with our requirements and the food was as usual delicious. Many thanks to all involved.

Dear Janet, Thank you for your lovely review. We are delighted that your event went so well and look forward to host more of these in the future.
Wanted to try Sunday Lunch at the Lakeside Restaurant (Calderfields Golf & Country Club) so booked a table.

Courteously received and shown to a lovely window table with great views of the golf course, fountain etcetera. Drinks ordered, we went to the carvery.

Very adequate choice of meats and vegetables, plates were a little small but we were quickly through with a great choice of mustards, horseradish, cranberry etcetera.

Fantastic beef, thick, beautifully tender and a decent portion. Vegetables a good choice all nicely cooked, not sloppy, not hard and undercooked.

Excellent visit, very happy and will certainly be going again. Very reasonable bill, so very very happy.

Away for a lads weekend, and there was a surprising and inauspicious start. The surprise, to see my name on a stand being welcomed as a stay and play weekender as I entered reception, nice! The inauspiciousness? Being told that there were two wakes and a rotary meeting on, meaning we couldn't get either a beer or lunch before our afternoon tee off, coupled with the understanding the we'd have to 'eat last' at 7.30pm (it was noon). After that, things generally got better. Evening meal was good, accommodation was also good (freaked out by radiators that looked like TVs!). Breakfast service was very average both days, there was only one lady on, and she worked at one pace. The 'static' solids and fluids were only replaced when asked for, so being very English things were very bare on the Saturday as nobody had the guts to ask for more, before people got peeved off on the Sunday and there was more available. Full English was good for me (but cooked faaaaaar better on the Sunday than the Saturday), the 'veggie' equivalent not so good as it was just mine minus bacon, sausage and black pudding with no replacements or doubles. Evening meal was mixed, but generally positive. Golf course was great! Relatively short (driver can stay at home if you want), but key for a stay and play, NO BLIND TEE SHOTS! So you always knew what you were doing, and I say this despite not a single member of the party scoring over 30 all weekend...

After a fabulous lunch in the restaurant open to the public, we took our teens for a free golf session on Wednesday and they loved it. A beautiful venue in stunning grounds, with the best 4 star menu in this area. It is reasonably priced, with professional, friendly staff.
Well done to all for making it a wonderful Whit holiday experience. We will be back soon. Thank you.

The Carvery is very nice and lovely views over the golf course. But the experience was let down by the waiting staff who needed to be called or waved at. They all seemed to gather together and ingore the customers. We saw many others trging to get there attention but they looked in the other direction. It took us ages to get a desert menu and we even said we have waited a long time but she didn't even come back to ask if we wanted to order. When we got someones attention we asked for the bill as we had run out of patience. Shame. Nice place let down by its staff.
