Really nice carvery, lots of choice and everything piping hot. All staff were lovely and couldn't be more attentive, all apart from one- Rosie who walked around the whole time we were there delegating the most simple of jobs to other members of staff. She stood next to our party with the card reader, and waited until another member of staff walked past so she could pass the card reader to the younger waitress (Holly) and asked her to settle out payment... Just do it yourself instead of walking around with a face like thunder throwing your weight around. Would return again because the food was of high standard.

First time visiting & was very enjoyable. Probably best carvery I've ever been to with just one disappointment. Very generous portion of beautifully cooked beef & turkey (also pork available). Never seen so many vegetables available... carrots, peas, mashed swede, broccoli, green beans, roast parsnips, savoy cabbage & cauliflower cheese. Also stuffing balls, chipolata sausages & crackling! All delicious. My personal taste but didn't like the gravy at all, tasted a bit like oxo. However, great service, friendly staff and very reasonable price ensured a pleasurable visit. Will be back soon!

2nd year running we have played our golf day here. Many thanks to Dan for once again helping the day run smooth and also regards to the lovely owners Linda and Alan for their hospitality. This is a seriously first class venue, golf course in great nick and greens absolutely first class - best in the region by miles !!!!!! Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, and the meal we had was first class - so many many thanks to you all for making the day for us memorable and enjoyable.

Took my Golf Society for a game here last week. The day was helped by some excellent weather but also by the great welcome we received from the venue after making all the arrangements through Jamie Cundy the golf pro. The bacon roll and coffee with a round of golf deal was excellent value. The Golf shop is well stocked with helpful staff and the 10% off vouchers we were given as a society on arrival was a nice surprise. The course itself has improved a lot since I last played. Fairly flat and an easy walk it has some tight tee shots and a nice variation of holes. Maintenance appeared to be good and the greens were flat and true and in good condition. Would definitely recommend for a good value society day. **This review is based on the golf, not on the hotel as we didn't stay overnight**

Last minute booking here. We stayed in a cabin which looked lovely on approach , when we entered the cabin it needed a little TLC . . Not a nice smell on entering ,opened the windows ,the latches on one window we’re broken .

We pushed the twin beds together they obviously don’t move the beds to clean as the dirt on the skirting board wasn’t nice .

Carpet badly worn and looked dirty.

The plug in the sink in the bathroom didn’t fit properly couldn’t have a proper wash .

We went for food and the staff were so helpful and pleasant . The black leather sofas in the drinking area were ripped and looked like they needed to go to the dump.

These lovely cabins could be so lovely and I wouldn’t mind paying more if they put more attention to detail

Would I stay here again . No

We stayed here for 2 nights to attend a wedding-the reception of which was at Calderfields. The cabins are of a decent size and overlook the golf course and a lake with a fountain in the distance-the highlight of the stay was the view from the cabin early in the morning and watching the early golfers go out. The cabins have tea/coffee making facilities, a decent sized tv and bathroom with a walk in shower. We had booked for an evening meal but there was no-one else there-Calderfields it appeared to us dealt with large group bookings-weddings etc, but not individuals, we had to wait 30 minutes just for a menu and we were in the process of walking out. The food here is not up to standard-the chips were soggy and the menu does not have enough choice-that said the meal at the wedding reception was better-the breakfast also was not good-there is no choice and it it is either a full english or nothing-the cold buffet was also poor. We would stay again for the experience but not the food. The course itself is looked after very well and for a golfing experience this would be ideal.

The down side, Photos makes it look better then it was, 5 min to sweep up out side, flower pot old and looking tired, only decaff coffee in room, blind was broken piece missing so people could see in

On the up side, the food was spot on

We had our wedding at Calderfields and aside from the staff being so friendly and welcoming the rooms were made to look bright and cheerful. We had around 150 guests on the evening and they can open up extra rooms to accommodate more if needed.

Booked through golf breaks for a Sunday night 2 rounds of golf dinner bed breakfast. Arrived early nice welcome lodge was available. Booked to play 18 holes at 14.36 to be told have to be in dining room at latest for 17.30 as carvery packs up at 18.00. Dissapointed but decided to play 9holes. A rush but made it for 17.00 for a pre dinner drink. Food was lovely as were the staff but did feel as we were the only ones eating that we were holding things up. Took our wine outside. We were then told bar cashed up (19.15) and the club was closing. So that was it bed at 19
30. The whole site to ourselves but nothing to do. Not the night we had hoped for. Loved the golf and food but would warn others do not book a golf break there on a Sunday. We felt like norman no mates.

Calderfields hosted our network evening last night and all of the staff went out of their way to ensure the night was a success. The room (which has recently been refurbished and looks fantastic) was all set up ready for us, staff were available to assist with our requirements and the food was as usual delicious. Many thanks to all involved.

Dear Janet, Thank you for your lovely review. We are delighted that your event went so well and look forward to host more of these in the future.
Wanted to try Sunday Lunch at the Lakeside Restaurant (Calderfields Golf & Country Club) so booked a table.

Courteously received and shown to a lovely window table with great views of the golf course, fountain etcetera. Drinks ordered, we went to the carvery.

Very adequate choice of meats and vegetables, plates were a little small but we were quickly through with a great choice of mustards, horseradish, cranberry etcetera.

Fantastic beef, thick, beautifully tender and a decent portion. Vegetables a good choice all nicely cooked, not sloppy, not hard and undercooked.

Excellent visit, very happy and will certainly be going again. Very reasonable bill, so very very happy.

Away for a lads weekend, and there was a surprising and inauspicious start. The surprise, to see my name on a stand being welcomed as a stay and play weekender as I entered reception, nice! The inauspiciousness? Being told that there were two wakes and a rotary meeting on, meaning we couldn't get either a beer or lunch before our afternoon tee off, coupled with the understanding the we'd have to 'eat last' at 7.30pm (it was noon). After that, things generally got better. Evening meal was good, accommodation was also good (freaked out by radiators that looked like TVs!). Breakfast service was very average both days, there was only one lady on, and she worked at one pace. The 'static' solids and fluids were only replaced when asked for, so being very English things were very bare on the Saturday as nobody had the guts to ask for more, before people got peeved off on the Sunday and there was more available. Full English was good for me (but cooked faaaaaar better on the Sunday than the Saturday), the 'veggie' equivalent not so good as it was just mine minus bacon, sausage and black pudding with no replacements or doubles. Evening meal was mixed, but generally positive. Golf course was great! Relatively short (driver can stay at home if you want), but key for a stay and play, NO BLIND TEE SHOTS! So you always knew what you were doing, and I say this despite not a single member of the party scoring over 30 all weekend...

After a fabulous lunch in the restaurant open to the public, we took our teens for a free golf session on Wednesday and they loved it. A beautiful venue in stunning grounds, with the best 4 star menu in this area. It is reasonably priced, with professional, friendly staff.
Well done to all for making it a wonderful Whit holiday experience. We will be back soon. Thank you.

The Carvery is very nice and lovely views over the golf course. But the experience was let down by the waiting staff who needed to be called or waved at. They all seemed to gather together and ingore the customers. We saw many others trging to get there attention but they looked in the other direction. It took us ages to get a desert menu and we even said we have waited a long time but she didn't even come back to ask if we wanted to order. When we got someones attention we asked for the bill as we had run out of patience. Shame. Nice place let down by its staff.

Visited this place for the Sunday carvery. There were six of us in our party. This is a lovely restaurant in a lovely setting. The food is as good as you will get for a carvery. The staff are a bit slow and we had to chase them for our drinks and deserts. The toilets are clean and tidy. Overall a decent place to eat for a Sunday carvery.

Excellent afternoon tea. Staff very friendly and helpful. Afternoon Tea was lovely with delicious cakes and sandwiches. Plenty of choice and food topped up half way through tea. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely visit again

Very pleasantly surprised with our lunch here today; we are not lovers of carvery food, but we had family visiting from abroad and we wanted to eat together, so decided to book for Sunday lunch as there were 21 of us. The surroundings were very pleasant, my relatives from Germany were really impressed and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food. The service was good, and the staff really pleasant and friendly.
We would definitely book again.

Carvery amazing, plenty of vegetables and the meat portion was good. Disappointed to find out on the bill we were charges 1p per jug of water for the table, not what I would have expected. I also noticed someone cleaning tables with just a cloth and not cleaning properly with the correct cleaning spray.

Visited today for Easter Sunday lunch with eight family members and a baby.
We could not fault the staff for there organised approach in a very busy restaurant.
We asked for extra things for the baby it was sorted immediately.
The food was very good and plentiful.
Thank you to all the staff for making our Easter lunch special.

Took 20 family members out to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday and early retirement. The restaurant seated us all together in the conservatory. Although busy we all had a fantastic carvery meal, didnt have to stand in a queue for to long to get our meals. A really lovely place to come and celebrate whatever the occasion. If you are looking to celebrate anything at all then I would recommend calderfields, lovely views overlooking a beautiful golf course. A big thank you to everyone calderfields golf and country club

20 of us booked in for a 60th birthday meal food was excellent although one starter was missing and everyone had finished theirs by the time it arrived. Carvery was excellent beef melted in the mouth and veg was perfectly cooked. The only negatives:

Not enough waiting staff I only saw 4 for a room of about 150 people

The tables and chairs were crammed so close together you had no room to eat and had to squeeze through to get to the carvery. Tricky manoeuvre when carrying a hot plate of food.

Think it's a case of trying to get as many people in regardless of comfort.

I would have rated this a 5 star if it were not for the negatives I've listed.
