My husband and I popped into the Pigeon’s Parlour recently and were made very welcome. As it was close to Christmas, it was quite busy with a large party booking and we were told immediately that we might have wait longer to be served. As it turned out, the service was good and we were pleased with what we had. We loved the quirky decor and the staff were really friendly. The cosy atmosphere was enhanced by a gentleman playing lovely melodies on the piano and everyone seemed to be having a great time.

Visited today for a very tasty lunch with my sisters. Decor is quirky and comfy (as someone said in a previous post - it’s like being at your Gran’s house!), but more importantly we were made to feel incredibly welcome and we enjoyed our lunch wholeheartedly.

Special mention for the scones as they were particularly delicious.

We shall certainly be returning, but on a Friday evening next time to sample the gin!

Booked a table for two at very short notice the day before. All staff very friendly and helpful, as this was the first time I had been there. As it was Remembrance Sunday, this 40's style tea shop was the perfect place to be. Food very good, a barber shop quintet entertained everyone with all the old songs from war time, and got everyone singing. It was a really brilliant afternoon! Can't wait to go again soon.

Pigeons parlour is a wonderful time capsule of the 1940s. There is so much to look at and talk about - I have that 1920s Bero book and still use it ! The waitresses are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The music is very nostalgic - we danced around the tables ! The tea pots have knitted cosies and you can close your eyes and think you are in your Grans parlour. Wonderful escapism for a few hours.

Visited today for my moms birthday, the place is lovely a fabulous throw back to the 40s. We explained to the lady that moms a fussy eater and she said this wasn’t a problem and made changes to suit. Everyone there was lovely and attentive offering drink refills and making sure everything was ok. The lady was more than happy for us to put up birthday banners and have balloons and surprised us with a cupcake with a candle and a quick rendition of happy birthday- all in all a lovely local little gem will definitely return.

We arrived for a late afternoon tea. The decor is fabulous, it takes you way way back. There are fabulous family photos and lots of memorabilia. At our ages we can well remember most of it. We enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea. The staff are very friendly and made us feel more than welcome. A lovely guy came and play the Saxaphone (3) and as he played he told us various stories of bygone players. We tried several gins which were most enjoyable. They do serve draught lager and bottle beers but the gins were really worth trying. Will we be back - oh yes we certainly will. Apparently they have theme nights. It is a place that at certain times would be suitable for all.

We are Victory Belles WI. We recreate the forties Wi, so we wanted to enjoy a true afternoon tea. There were a group of sixteen, all in forties dress. We had pre-order our meal. So we had the standard afternoon tea, plus one veggie tea and one genre's tea.
The staff were excellent and very welcoming.
The rooms were all very interesting, including the Titanic toilet!!
We were well fed, and supplied with tea, coffee and green tea.
There was forties music playing, but not over powering.
After eating we sang Jerusalem, and sang along to the music, then ended up dancing on the carpark!

Lovely 40s inspired tea rooms, hidden away. The staff are very welcoming and informative. Lovely selection of foods available & the service is good. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Couldn’t fault the staff. Even have a variety of alcoholic beverages and plenty of gin to choose from. Nice addition of a Gentleman’s tea, not seen anywhere do that before.
All in all a very nice experience.

Today was our first visit, we were made very welcome, offered a choice of tables. Staff were all friendly, given ample time to choose our food. Parlour is very interesting with numerous items of interest from the past, menu has ample to choose from including a generous gin menu. Our food was tasty and well presented. It was a perfect setting for a get together with friends, we are already planning our next visit, thank you

Wonderful first visit today with family to celebrate my dads 81st Birthday. Gentlemans afternoon tea was an ample treat for dad and left overs were wrapped for him to enjoy later at home. Fantastic friendly staff. Lovely food and memories of days gone by everywhere you look. Will definately return when not driving as there is a full gin bar and late night opening on Fridays till 11pm. Thank you all

I've been here a few times with several different friends and each time they have enjoyed this lovely place as have I. Visited yesterday too, always greeted with the most friendliest staff ever. Waited on by several people, which is unheard off in this day, of busyness. I enjoyed the most delicious jacket potatoe with beans/cheese and a little salad, all demolished by me happily as did my friend enjoy her gluten free food. The coffee here is the best and I assure you I have tried a lot of places. The tea is also beautiful as is the enormous choice of tea. A jewel in the crown of Great Barr, a step back in time too which I'm sure a lot of elders would love. I hear they have bands playing on some Fridays and of course they are licensed but I will have to try this first of course. Thanks Debbie for another wonderful lunch and time, see you soon! x

I wanted a special treat for my sister's birthday and we found it at Pigeons Parlour. A really superb tea room hidden away not far from where I live all decked out in the 1940's. While we waited for our tea it was lovely to look around the room and spot things we remembered from our childhood and the three of us indulged in an afternoon of reminiscing. The afternoon tea was plentiful with delicious sandwiches, scones and a selection of cake and a trifle which tasted just like the Bird's trifle mum used to make us. The ladies who served us were lovely, so nice to have a smiley face and time for a quick chat even though they were busy. A wonderful experience and we shall be back. Thank you for making the day so special.

Had afternoon tea with my Mum. She's not in the best of health, however decided to treat her as I was away for her Birthday. The owner took our order and put my Mum at ease and recommended the baked potato with 2 choice fillings, I had the Gentlemans Tea. The service was quick and waitress who delievered the food stayed and had a chat with us to see if it was to our liking. My mother then was treated to an alcoholic drink which put a smile on her face. Thank you Pigeons Parlour (Debbie Mel Pauline & Liz) a wonderful experience which made her day

Today I visited Pigeons Parlour for the first time. As a lover of the early 1900's I was a kid in a candy store. It's like eating in a museum! Food was fantastic and the staff were amazing. Debbie or the lovely girl serving couldn't do enough for us. Thanks, guys, can't wait to visit again.

Mathew.

Me and my family went to Pigeon's Parlour today to celebrate Father's Day, a wedding anniversary and my Nan's 86th birthday all rolled into one, and every single member of the family completely loved the food, atmosphere and feel whilst being in Pigeon's Parlour, and already definitely want to go back again!

The 1940's and war memorabilia is really interesting to look at and obviously makes the atmosphere of the place unique, and the staff are truly an asset to the cafe too - they treated us like friends and inparticular were so kind towards my Nan who was celebrating her birthday, and were only too happy to talk to and do anything for us, which was so lovely and definitely made us feel at ease, and really want to return! I really can't praise the lovely staff at this beautiful cafe enough! They even surprised my Nan with a little cake and singing happy birthday to her, and also were so hopeful and polite when I messaged them before visiting today. The food they prepared was also delicious too - we had two gentleman's and four regular afternoon teas, and there was a good and generous selection and variety of sandwiches, rolls, scones, cakes and additional extras such as pork pie and crackling with the gentleman's afternoon tea!

In summary, I would massively recommend Pigeon's Parlour to anyone of any age! And especially those who lived in the war era I feel would love a visit to this cafe - my Nan said I couldn't have made her day any nicer after a visit to Pigeon's Parlour, and really this shows what a wonderful place it is here :)
