Visited for lunch on a Sunday (although we didn't want a roast dinner). All three meals were delicious and the wait wasn't too long - about 25 mins. Only reason I haven't give a five is that I had to pay for meals and drinks separately, however this has not put us off and we will definitely be back for another visit. wereddelicious

This was our first visit here on Friday 18th September, early evening with friends for a bite to eat + drinks.
The atmosphere felt authentic which perhaps went with the decor. It was engaging seeing the old pictures of old Walsall decorated around the pub. We ordered some Food & Drinks by the delightful barmaid, her customer service was exceptional. Very well presented, a picture behind the bar.
We didn't have to wait very long for our food, when it arrived the food looked appealing + big portion sizes. The barmaid checked back that our meals were satisfactory + we were happy which I found was enchanting. As some pubs bring out the meals & forget that you exist. It was organised + traditional. Customers are definitely looked after. Such a fantastic range of real ales with a clear menu for the style, colour + ABV.
We will definitely visit the Black Country Arms again

This is a very friendly and inviting public house. Always a wide variety of beers (14 regularly changing) and 2 real ciders. The food is of an excellent quality and not over priced. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Would recommend a visit.

I was in Walsall visiting my son. He suggested we went out a quick drink. He was hungry and wanted something to eat. He had the 2 course Sunday Lunch, roast chicken and bread pudding for dessert. I had a pint of Thatchers Gold and Dan also had Cider, a pint of Thatchers Cedar Valley. There is a massive choice of draft beers. I browsed the menu and also decided I would also have something to eat. I chose the Faggot and mushy pea pie, usual but very nice.
The food was very nice and arrived in a reasonable time. This is the 3rd time I have visited the Black Country arms and will certainly be visiting again.

I previously wrote a glowing report about the Black Country Arms. Having been impressed on our first visit, we decided to return with a friend, but this time we were slightly disappointed. When we placed our order we were told that it might take between 30 and 40 minutes, since a party of 14 people had made a reservation and were in front of us. After nearly an hour we were told that they had only one brie and beetroot tart available, when we had ordered two. I re-selected, opting for a potato and onion pie. It was OK, but nothing special, and we felt they ought to have told us when we first placed the order.
The service was friendly, and the waitress apologised for the delay. We did feel, however, that a party of 14 was not enormous (and they were expected after all), so we would have expected slightly more prompt service. Luckily we were not in a rush, and will probably give the Black Country Arms another chance. Better luck next time, we hope!

This is one of five local pubs that a group of us visit regularly on Thursdays. Over the last five years we have dropped pubs for failing in respect of food quality or obscene price increases and added new pubs but the Black Country Arms has stayed on our rota. Good food,12 real ales and a warm welcome. The downside (that, fortunately does not impact on us) is that the flight of stairs to the servery and two flights to the toilets makes it impracticable for those with impaired mobility.

My monthly visits to this great place never fails. Beautiful range of 16 ales every day, well managed bar owned & run by Kim. Great food, now being served all day. Fish Pie, Liver, onions & mash, Scampi all delicious. Brilliant Quiz every 3rd Thursday of the month run by excellent brothers Jimm & Michael at 8pm. Please do come to see what I rate as probably the best pub in Walsall.

I ate a roast pork and stuffing sandwich, accompanied by an half a pint of elderflower ale in this lovely old pub. The sandwich contained perfect white meat and is up there with the best; the ale was enchanting. This place takes pride in it's food and drink and it shows. The staff member was friendly and helpful. I can't wait to return and try more of their ales, beers and food. Every town should have a pub like this..!

Took some time to experience what Walsall had to offer mainly with respect to real ales. The pub is wonderfully decorated with a bar that has an extensive range all priced low in comparison to many other pubs. The food on offer covered snacks in the form of cobs with various fillings for £1 each to more substantial offerings. I had a chicken jalfrezzi which was excellent. This pub is well worth re-visiting!

for me, seeing as it was my third visit. This time I had the Chilli Con Carne, chips, & garlic bread, SLURP :-)''' as usual. Mr DeuceWooo had fish & chips, but he wasn't keen, he missed his BCA pie that he usually has. Again 2 meals & 2 drinks for under £20, you really can't go wrong here people. I've already chosen my meal for next time, & I can't wait to get back & try that pie of Roy's!

We had always thought that the Black Country Arms looked like a working men’s pub. This was pure prejudice on our part – it looks smart enough, but situated at the top of the Walsall market, it looked as if it was the place to have a drink or two after work.
Recently a friend recommended it highly, so when we were in town the other day around lunch time, we decided to give it a try. Our friend was right. It has an interesting and imaginative layout, with different levels and numerous alcoves which help reduce noisy and enable privacy. The bar is on the second level, with some games facilities on the top deck.
The menu is quite extensive. There were various vegetarian items, with more on the ‘specials’ menu on a board at the bar. We opted for the beetroot and Brie tart, which was served with a very fresh salad.
The Black Country Arms surpassed expectations, and we will certainly return.

What a superb town centre venue, open from 11:00 am until you should be in bed. The place features a cornucopia of real ales, ciders and wines plus amazing portions of good honest food. Even better is that it has great atmosphere, cheery staff and led by probably the best licensee in town. Truly a class act.

Having discovered this wonderful pub just last year it has become our regular stopping place for lunch every time we are in Walsall. In particular we adore the Sunday lunches, fabulous big platters of home cooked roast beef and fresh vegetables.
The service at The Black Country Arms is always excellent. Very polite, well trained staff look after you from the moment you arrive. This pub is a hidden gem and an absolute "must visit" for those who enjoy fantastic real ales, freshly cooked meals and true value for money. It is by far the best pub in the town!

Weekdays at dinner-time is my usual time for visiting the Black Country Arms, and I've always found it a welcoming and enjoyable experience.
It's a big place with plenty of seating and some corners to hide yourself away for a quiet pint and book. And what a choice of ales. There are at least 15 (changing) real ales on at the bar, and as a Czech beer lover I am always happy to see Krusovice available on tap.
I've eaten there several times and always had good food - persoannly i'm never worried how long food takes to arrive if it's good and freshly prepared, which meals here always have been in my experience. That said, my meals have always arrived quickly and are great value for money. Check out the daily Specials as well as the Black Country specialities on the menu.
From the reviews of a couple of other people, I think i'll keep up my routine and avoid busy weekend periods - I enjoy it here too much.

We visited the Black Country arms this weekend for a family meal instead of a Sunday lunch. I had heard and read great things about this place so was looking forward to it. I have to say I was a little disappointed.
The place is nice and we sat down at a great little corner table. Although we had pre ordered the roast dinners on booking the food was an hour to be served. I had the burger which was nice enough but the roast dinners didn't seem great. All in all a disappointing visit to a well recommended place.

I took my team here for an evening meal. We'd hoped to eat here but food wasn't being served at 7pm when we arrived. Perhaps it's more of a lunchtime place. The range of beers was excellent, with over 12 hand pumped bitters and a couple of good lagers but the room wasn't particularly friendly and the clientele there on the night we went was a bit "unreconstructed", frankly there was a bit of an atmosphere and we only stayed for a couple of pints before going elsewhere. It was a shame as the range of beers was very interesting indeed and perhaps on another evening we could have made a session of it.

We didn't eat here, apart from the ham salad rolls which ere excellent!, but the selection of ales was superb. Great service from the bar staff, along with a really good understanding of the beers on offer. Evening entertainment was "Dave Jackson Blues Band" who were fantastic. Highly recommend.

Excellent value 2 course Sunday lunch for family, including 4 year old daughter. Roast dinners generous and tasty; desserts equally good. Beer fine, as ever. Highly recommend!

Having passed this pub on many occasions over the years I finally ventured inside and wasn't disappointed. The first thing that struck me was the size of the place. From the outside it doesn't look very big but it stretches quite a way back and there are plenty of tables. There is a plentiful supply of real ales. There is quite an extensive menu and I chose the Brunch with a potato wedges. The portions were huge and looking round other diners this seemed to be the case for the menu as a whole. The staff were very pleasant making me wish I had used the pub before. One thing's for certain,it won't be my last visit.

Wow, this is a great pub for the real ale fan, or just somewhere nice, clean and respectable for a quality couple of hours.
Been here on numerous occasions the last being Saturday night, where I counted 22 beers all on pull.Sometimes in these real ale places it's frowned upon when you order a carling, or half a coke, but not here. Everyman to himself, with a really wide mix of people.
Sat night had a great relaxed atmosphere with some live music, nothing to loud but loud enough, if you know what I mean,Lots of dark, lights, pale ales, Belgium and German bottles to choose from.
Bar snacks, at last a pub with a full compliment of snacks, crisps, pork pies, scratching a, pickled eggs and gherkins. Also at last 2 nice happy, enthusiastic barmen, credit to themselves and the pub. They actually looked happy and interested in serving the waiting customers.
I'm seriously considering changing this to my local, now that Asda don't charge for parking lolWill want to try the food soon, see if it's as good as the beer,
Well done guys, keep it up
