Easy to access for wheelchair users, spacious lifts which look out onto the canal.
The gallery areas do not have automatic doors so you'll need someone to hold tgem open. The displays are easy to get round and positioned at different heights.
The children's activity for Wednesday this half term was rather full when we attended so we didn't participate.
It's lovely to be able to engage children in the art displays and have a local art gallery.

This Art gallery is a Gem. Overlooking the Walsall canal basin is s permanent Garman Ryan collection of art work created by Jacob Epstein or collected by him and his family. Temporary collections add to this exceptional collection.
On Friday I even spoke with one of the artists. Must See.

Love the building. The staff are very friendly and the, Costa, coffee shop is brilliant.
It's sad to see so much litter outside by the unnecessarily limited disable parking bays.
Inside, the building feels somewhat unloved with dirty edges to the stairs and corridors and no signs to let you know where to find the toilets.
Exhibit wise (and this is the main mission of the place) the Epstein stuff and other artists was well worth viewing. The thing with office stamps on paper was utterly missable. However I was impressed by how so many A4 sheets were placed on the walls in perfectly straight horizontal and vertical lines on all four walls of the huge room.
There did seem to be a fair number of rooms that were empty/closed. And sadly and inexplicably so was the access onto the outside roof area.
My impression is that this gallery would benefit from the person in charge giving some attention to the the little things and pushing for higher standards

A place of wonder and beauty. We often forget that Walsall is very, very blessed to have such a history of Epstein works of art. Heck knows why, though, people outside Walsall still find it baffling that such exquisite works are there and such talent in things like the leather trade exist. Too modest by half. The New Art Gallery Walsall is a triumph.
