A group of local artists are joining forces to raise money for a Walsall church which has experienced severe structural damage following the recent storm Darragh.

Delves Baptist Community Church of Bell Lane literally had its roof blown off during the recent calamitous weather and face an uphill battle to make the premises fit for worship and other community activities.

Now a collective of artists whose talents stretch across the spectrum of the arts are coming together to help raise much needed funds.

Mark Ingram who is putting the evening together says

”Delves Baptist Community Church has been part of my life for over 50 years, I have made so many dear friends past and present at Delves and the church itself has played a vital part in my own spiritual journey. When I heard about the terrible damage inflicted on the building I knew that I had to do something to help and I reached out to friends in the local arts community. The response has been so positive with all those approached agreeing to give their time and talent to help raise money for the cause.

I’ve put together a bill that includes music from The Other Half, Apple Venus and Ned Canon, poetry and spoken word from Cheryl Boot, Graham Foster, Ian Henery Saida Chowdhury  and Sharon Rose and also local legend Paul McDonald, throw in a couple of mystery guests and we have a varied line up for what promises to be a great evening.

The event will take place at Wednesbury Baptist Church, Vicar Street, Wednesbury, WS10 9HF,on Saturday 15th February, start time 7.30pm, tickets on the door £5(or donation). Refreshments will be available, all welcome.
