Despite a restrictive Charity Fund, Aldridge & District Lions Club have donated £250 to help Walsall Heart Cares telephone support for their patients.

Fundraising Officer Lion Diane Price said “We had already decided that the proceeds of our Quiz in April would go to Heart Care and although it was cancelled did not see why they should miss out.”

The Club has also delivered 25 Scrub Bags, made by Lion Chris Barker, to Acorns Hospice Walsall.

Lion Michelle the Clubs Welfare Officer said “Although there is much help needed in the Community at this time the Club thought that the money for Heartcare would impact on many lives and we knew it would be well spent”. She continued by saying “It is not always a matter of financial support and that the benefit to Acorns was through giving time our most precious commodity”.

Lion President Harry Fry said “It will be such a shame if the community/volunteering spirit is lost again as life returns to normal and hope that people who have given that extra effort and remember the reward of a ‘Thank You’ or just the satisfaction of helping others continue with their Community involvement. Hopefully some may consider joining Lions or just volunteering occasional help or support to our Club”.

Lions members are ordinary people actively working at the heart of their communities.
