Walsall played out a 0-0 draw at the County Ground, Swindon in front of a crowd of 10,489 thanks to a match ticket offer from Swindon for their fans. It was always going to be a tense affair with both teams in grave danger of the dreaded drop into Legue Two looming at the end of the season.
Saddlers Andy Butler was soon called into the action as early as the third minute when he blocked a dangerous-looking Matt Richie cross. Swindon's first real chance appeared in the 12th minute when Michael Rose beat Aaron Lescott but Jimmy Walker came to Walsall's rescue.
Three minutes later The Robins came close to scoring a goal when Richie again caused problems and shot just wide. Mike Grella was next to attack Walsall's goal but he struck the side netting.
At last Saddlers showed signs of a bit of attacking possibility when Richard Taundry headed onto the roof of the net from a Julian Gray cross. At the start of the second half both sides suggested that a goal wouldn't be along any time soon as both sides simply cancelled each other out.
Andy Butler headed one effort from a corner wide for Walsall who throw on their subs in the second half but the changes made very little difference. The best action of the entire game came in the fourth minute of time added on when Rose hit a belter which Walker somehow knocked onto the bar- a blistering shot which bounced on the line and was scrambled clear. So Walsall hung on for a point but really needed a win.
