Walsall failed to break down a determined Hartlepool United at the Banks's Stadium and had to settle with a 0-0 draw. It was somewhat disappointing as after the thrilling 3-2 home win previously to Sheffield United this was so far removed. This was Walsall's 16th draw of the season and fell more into the boring type of goal less encounters.
The first chance came in the 17th minute but George Bowerman shot wide. The same player header over and that was the sum of the first half action, really. Oliver Lancashire had to be withdrawn on 23 minutes with blurred vision. Manny Smith took his place.
Dean Smith threw on Will Grigg and Adam Chambers in the course of the second half but they made no difference as the visitors stood firm and stopped everything. So Walsall's unbeaten run extended to six games and are still out of the dropzone.
