A fortnight ago Walsall enjoyed a fine 2-1 win at Portsmouth and Saturday Saddlers returned to the south coast at Bournemouth repeated the scoreline. This win lifted The Saddlers into 6th position in League One or in actual terms, joint third. Its a far loftier position in the table by the end of September that any fan could have hoped. Nine games in and its all looking so good at the minute. Walsall, fresh from their win over Preston last week, were unchanged.
The Saddlers took a long while to get going at Bournemouth but on 41 minutes Andy Butler headed home to beat ex England keeper David James who was making his debut. Walsall started to turn it on a bit in the second half and it just seemed a question of how many. The Cherries got themselves a goal back and started to pile on the pressure. Then on 89 mins George Bowerman struck from close range to earn Walsall a victory they deserved. Two home games this week against Leyton Orient and Carlisle United for The Saddlers to try and get maximum points.
